Superlatives fall short when we ask Matthew Sampson about his ride with Love de Vie. The Grandorado-daughter and Sampson have prepared for the championship via the Sunshine Tour in Spain, and with great success.Β

β€œLove de Vie is really fantastic: just the way she jumps around in such an accommodation… I can only be very proud of that! Truly incredible. She may not be that big, but she does have a good, big canter. It is not easy to ride here in this large ring, but it does give you an impression of the horses that stand out. This because they show they also handle well in under circumstances.” When asked what his plan with Love de Vie is, Sampson says: β€œShe’s going to pasture for a few weeks now, so she can rest and grow. So she’ll be getting a well-deserved holiday.”

Last year, Love de Vie narrowly finished second in the championship. This year Herman van Triest’s breeding product is at the top. In second place is Sophie Hinners with Lambrusco (v. Entertainer): great breeding success for Pieter Keunen, who bred this stallion out of the same dam as the Olympic show jumper Bardolino (v. Cardento). As the last starter, Alexander Davis and Lente (v. Douglas, breeder P.P.W. Kiggen from Ospel) jumped clear to third prize.

A total of 10 horses qualified for the World Championships for Young Jumping Horses in Lanaken.
