Dutch eventing-team European Championships Ponies announced

Following yesterday’s announcement of the Dutch pony-team dressage, chef d’equipe Mans Buurman just announced his selection of eventing-riders. Just like the European Dressage Championships, the EC Eventing for ponies will take place from August 10th until August 15th in Strzegom, Poland. Selected for the team are Bente Bartels and Peggy’s Rocket, Senna van Houte with Fernhill First Lady (will bring her own reserve in her pony Tullibards Sixth Sense), Ivy van der Kolk with Robin Hood, Renzo Laffra and Wolvenhof’s Nesta, Kato de Smidt with Orchid’s Tigersun and Sophie Weening with Hip Hop. Reserve will be Tijn de Blaauw with Orchid’s Megan.

Chef d’equipe Mans Buurman is allowed to take six combinations with him to the Championships, were he gets to decide which four combinations will for the team and which two combinations get to compete for the individual medals. The riders have certainly been on a roll the past year. “We’re doing really well in Europe. In Oudkarspel our two teams left the German teams behind and last year in Strzegm we won the nations cup from the Danish, Swedes and Germans. But, later this year at the Championship we certainly shouldn’t rule out the teams from France, Great-Brittain and Ireland”, Mans Buurman told the Dutch equestrian federation KNHS.
